1. Online Program Disclaimer
The information provided through any online program, course, or digital resource offered by Skincare Academy Pty Ltd (ABN: 186 550 630 04) (we, us, our) — including Advanced Acne to g l o w®, Online Acne Specialist™, Advanced Acne Pathway™, Advanced Acne Scarring to g l o w™, and Acne Flashcard Program™ — is for educational and professional development purposes only.
Our programs are designed exclusively for qualified skin professionals (including dermal therapists, beauty therapists, estheticians, and related practitioners). They are not intended for, and should not be used by, members of the general public as a substitute for professional medical, naturopathic, nutritional, or dermatological advice.
Completion of any Skincare Academy program does not qualify participants as a Naturopath, Nutritionist, Dermatologist, or any other regulated health professional in Australia. Participants must at all times practise within their own professional scope of practice, in accordance with the standards and guidelines of any relevant professional association, registration body, or indemnity insurer.
While we take reasonable care to ensure the accuracy and currency of the information presented in our programs, we make no guarantee that the content is complete, error-free, or suitable for your specific circumstances. Clinical knowledge evolves, and we encourage participants to verify information with current evidence-based resources and their professional governing bodies.
2. No Guarantee of Outcomes
We do not make any guarantees or representations as to specific results, outcomes, or commercial success arising from completing our programs or following our recommendations. Individual results will vary depending on factors including, but not limited to:
• Your existing qualifications, experience, and client base;
• The effort, commitment, and consistency you apply to implementing the program content;
• Your business structure, location, and market conditions;
• Your clients' individual health circumstances and compliance with treatment recommendations.
Any testimonials, case studies, or examples of results shared within our programs or on our website reflect the individual experiences of those participants and are not representative of typical outcomes.
3. Health and Clinical Disclaimer
Our programs contain educational content relating to acne, skin health, nutrition, functional pathology, and naturopathic medicine. This content is provided to educate skin professionals and is not intended to constitute medical advice to end consumers.
Skin professionals who complete our programs and apply the educational content in their practice do so under their own professional responsibility and within their own scope of practice. We strongly recommend that participants:
• Consult their professional indemnity insurer before expanding the scope of their client services;
• Review the guidelines of their relevant professional association before implementing new clinical practices;
• Refer clients to an appropriate registered health professional where a matter falls outside their scope of practice.
The clinical content in our programs is based on the professional knowledge and clinical experience of Hayley Barnes (Registered Acne Naturopath) and is accurate at the time of publication. It does not replace advice from a registered medical professional and should not be treated as such.
4. Internal™ — Naturopathic Clinical Model Disclaimer
Internal™ is a practitioner membership model available by application only to graduates of Advanced Acne to g l o w® and Online Acne Specialist™. Under the Internal™ model, Hayley Barnes (Registered Acne Naturopath, registered member of the International Institute for Complementary Therapists (IICT)) provides supervised naturopathic support including functional pathology testing and individualised supplementation protocols for acne clients referred by Internal™ Partner Clinics.
The following applies to the Internal™ model:
• Hayley Barnes acts as the practitioner of record for naturopathic clinical decisions made within the Internal™ model, including supplement prescription and pathology interpretation.
• The Acne Specialist (Internal™ Partner Clinic) remains the primary point of contact for the acne client and is responsible for the client relationship and the implementation of the topical and lifestyle components of the treatment plan.
• The 15-Minute Internal Case Review™ conducted by Hayley Barnes is a clinical consultation for the purpose of reviewing pathology results and health history before prescribing. It does not replace an ongoing relationship with a primary care physician or other registered healthcare provider.
• Functional pathology testing ordered through the Internal™ model is for investigative and clinical purposes only and does not constitute a medical diagnosis. Acne clients should continue to consult their general practitioner for any medical concerns.
• Supplement prescriptions provided under the Internal™ model are individualised and based on the clinical information provided. Acne clients must disclose all current medications, health conditions, allergies, and relevant lifestyle factors. We are not liable for adverse outcomes arising from undisclosed information.
5. Supplement and Product Disclaimer
Practitioner-grade supplements prescribed through the Internal™ model are selected based on individual clinical assessment. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition within the meaning of the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989 (Cth).
Supplement recommendations are made within the scope of naturopathic practice and are based on the best available evidence at the time of prescription. Participants and acne clients should:
• Disclose all current medications (including prescription medications, over-the-counter medicines, and other supplements) to avoid potential interactions;
• Seek advice from their general practitioner or pharmacist if they have concerns about potential interactions;
• Discontinue use and contact us immediately if they experience any adverse reaction.
The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) regulates complementary medicines in Australia under the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989 (Cth). All supplements recommended or prescribed through Skincare Academy are listed or registered with the TGA as required. Listing on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) indicates that the product meets TGA standards for safety, quality, and presentation, but not that the TGA has independently verified efficacy claims.
6. Scope of Practice — Skin Professionals
Skin professionals in Australia are not regulated under a single national registration scheme. The scope of practice for dermal therapists, beauty therapists, and estheticians varies by:
• The level of qualification held (Certificate III, IV, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or Bachelor level);
• The guidelines of their relevant professional association (e.g. APAN, ABIC, AABTH);
• The requirements of their professional indemnity insurer;
• Applicable state and territory legislation.
Our programs educate skin professionals about the root causes of acne and evidence-based treatment approaches. The application of this knowledge in practice is the sole responsibility of the individual practitioner. Skincare Academy Pty Ltd accepts no liability for any claim arising from a skin professional practising outside their scope of practice.
Nothing in our programs authorises skin professionals to diagnose medical conditions, prescribe scheduled medicines, or perform procedures for which they are not qualified or insured.
7. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these disclaimers limits or excludes any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2, Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable consumer guarantees. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability for any failure to comply with a consumer guarantee is limited to resupplying the relevant service or refunding the amount paid for that service.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Skincare Academy Pty Ltd and its officers, employees, contractors, and representatives will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary loss or damage arising out of or in connection with:
• Your participation in any Skincare Academy program;
• The application of program content in your professional practice;
• Any clinical decisions made by you as a skin professional in relation to your own clients;
• Any adverse reactions experienced by acne clients where accurate and complete health information was not disclosed;
• Any loss of business, revenue, clients, or reputation arising from your participation in our programs.
You participate in our programs and apply the content in your practice at your own professional risk. By enrolling, you acknowledge and accept this disclaimer in full.
9. Privacy
We handle all personal information, including health information provided through our programs and the Internal™ model, in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. Our Privacy Policy is available at www.skincareacademy.com.au/privacy-policy.
